Trail grand opening: Join WTA and Everett Park and Facilities for the grand opening of the updated trail at Loganberry Lane in Kasch Park on Tuesday, June 3, at 3 p.m.! WTA and Everett Parks and Facilities have worked hard to renovate this trail, and we’re excited to celebrate its completion with the community.
Tiger Mountain trailhead: The Tiger Mountain Summit trailhead will be closed between June 9 and Nov. 1 for a Washington Department of Natural Resources trailhead renovation and parking lot expansion project. All trails remain open but inaccessible from this trailhead.
Silver Star: Silver Star Road at Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument will be closed through June 30 for road repairs, funded by the Department of Natural Resources, through the Good Neighbor Authority agreement. The road closure restricts access to the Ed’s Trail trailhead on Silver Star Mountain.
Boston Basin: The Boston Basin cross-country zone is closed until further notice due to bear activity. This closure includes the approach trail and the trailhead.
Wildfire season begins: The Second Creek Fire started burning earlier this week near Leavenworth and continues to grow. The Washington Department of Natural Resources and Forest Service are working together to respond to the fire, and there is currently a Level 1 “stay alert” fire advisory in the area. Take extra care if hiking anywhere near the area, both for fire and for smoke. If you’re hiking anywhere this weekend (it’s going to be hot in Central and Eastern Washington!), be responsible to avoid causing any fires yourself. To help you plan your next hike, the wildfire layer is now live on WTA’s Hike Finder Map.
