#LoveLocalTrails giveaway: Our annual #LoveLocalTrails giveaway has started! You’ll have the chance to win prizes by showing love for the incredible trails close to your heart and home this February. Participants will be entered for a chance to win a picnic set, including a picnic blanket from Pendleton Woolen Mills and a Pendleton-themed Stanley thermos. To enter:
- Hike on urban trails during February.
- Leave trip reports from your urban hikes and include the hashtag #LoveLocalTrails.
- Look for winners to be announced in March!
WTA is hiring! We are currently hiring for a full-time member engagement manager. This position will lead our mid-level giving and annual fund programs with a goal of growing revenue and participation across both programs. They will work closely with a collaborative development team, other staff, members and donors to contribute to the successful growth of WTA’s comprehensive individual giving program. The position is based in WTA’s downtown Seattle headquarters, and the priority application deadline is Feb. 21.
Mount Rainier permits: Mount Rainier National Park will start accepting early-access lottery applications on Feb. 10 at 7 a.m. Applications are submitted through Recreation.gov, and the early-access lottery closes on March 3 at 7 p.m. Lottery participants will be notified of their award status on March 14 at 7 a.m. and assigned a booking date.
Snowy! We saw snow all across the state this week, and most of us are still seeing it! Be aware of some closures that are happening right now, and also make sure to pack a lot of warm and dry layers — with traction where necessary — if you’re heading into the mountains.
- Mora Campground is temporarily closed due to heavy snowfall and hazards such as downed trees.
- Some state parks are totally or partially closed due to inclement weather, including the upper day-use area at Birch Bay State Park, the Beacon Rock Trail at Beacon Rock State Park and all of Kanaskat-Palmer State Park. Check the Washington State Parks alerts page for updates.
