Spokane Gulch, Methow Wildlife Area - Lewis Butte & Methow Community Trail — Wednesday, May. 6, 2026

My friends have all been bemoaning the fact that highway 20 through the North Cascades is closed.

How are we going to get our salted baguettes from the Mazama Store? But we wanted to see the spring wildflowers, I want to go for a trailrun, a mountain bike ride, a grave ride….

I will tell you that it has been quiet over here, but no less beautiful than always. Flowers are going off like crazy and the weather nothing short of amazing.

So my friends, I say saddle up and drive through Stevens Pass. It aint that bad. Highway 20 is open from the eastside past Rainy Pass, the backcountry skiing is good I hear. I can personally attest that the trails are in great shape and the flowers off the chart.😊
