From monthly gifts to creative investments, here are five ways to financially support trails in 2024 and beyond.

It’s no secret that WTA’s work is powered by our 26,000-strong member community who show up for trails each season of the year — thank you! We're almost a month into 2024, and you’ve maybe already spent time planning hiking goals, decluttering your inbox or reflecting on how to invest in the things you value most.

We wanted to provide some inspiration to help set your intention to make an even bigger impact for trails this year with one of these five creative ways to give. By supporting WTA’s work today, you can help unlock our shared vision of trails for everyone, forever.

Give Monthly

Kick off the new year by joining our Monthly Giving Circle to provide sustainable gifts that allow our team to reliably plan for the future of trails – and you never have to remember to renew your membership! Thanks to the generous support of our monthly donors, WTA is able to support the hiking community and maintain trails year-round.

Donate Stock

Donating appreciated stock is simple and avoids capital gains tax. You also gain a charitable gift tax deduction and can support trails with a larger gift than you thought possible. WTA has an account ready to receive your stock gift.

Use Your Donor Advised Fund

Many savvy donors use charitable savings funds, like Donor Advised Funds, to direct their giving. You can make an impact by recommending a grant from your fund today, or even naming WTA as a beneficiary of your account. Donations are processed through your financial institution.

Make a Qualified Charitable Distribution

If you are 70.5 or older, you can transfer your required minimum IRA distribution as a Qualified Charitable Distribution to WTA instead of taking a disbursement and paying taxes on these funds, making a win-win for you and trails, today.

Leave a Bequest

Leave a legacy gift as you plan for your future and for the next generation of hikers across the state. A bequest made from your will is popular for supporters of all financial abilities, since your gift will benefit the trails beyond your lifetime. Our team is here to make your plans count.

Thank you for your investment in trails for everyone, forever. As a WTA member, you help mobilize hikers and everyone who loves the outdoors to explore, steward and champion Washington's trails and public lands.
