Celebrating cooler weather with a big Goat Rocks trail run: Walupt Lake to PCT via Nannie Ridge, to Snowgrass and up old Snowy, to Goat Lake via climber's trail, and returning via Goat Ridge and Klickitat Trail 7A.
Trail is in good condition pretty much everywhere except 7A, which is largely as advertised by WTA trail description - overgrown, with frequent blowdowns and a river crossing. Water is low this time of year, and fording was straightforward. Water sources on the ridges are running dry, though there is still reliable water at Goat Lake and Cispus River on the PCT. Really no snow on trail except a few small patches near Old Snowy.
The Old Snowy climb is mostly loose shale, with scrambling required in one or two places near the summit. I felt this was easy class three, but might still be pretty heady due to exposure. The views from the summit are incredible, but even stopping just below the scrambly bits you'd still have an excellent vantage point with 3-volcano views!

Wow! A river crossing and exposed scrambling all in one trip! Haven't you learned your lesson yet, RedBeard?
