Tatoosh Ridge, Tatoosh Lookout — Friday, Sep. 18, 2026

Getting to the Tatoosh North Trailhead is the start of this adventure. I read the trip reports and I knew I would need a high clearance vehicle. There were one or two places where it was nice to have the extra clearance, but of course I parked next to Toyota Corolla at the trailhead. The trail was in pretty good condition with only a few blow Downs and only one that required getting off the trail to go around. The first part of the trail will get your heart rate going as you gain elevation to get to the ridge, but once you do the views are amazing. it does take a while to get to the other side of the ridge to see Mt Adams. I went to see Tatoosh Peak and whats left of the lookout first. I spent some time eating lunch there and taking pictures of Mt Rainier and a beautiful blue-green lake there. On the way back, I went up a little spur trail to another viewpoint that allowed me to see Tatoosh Lake. The hike back was uneventful. but overall a great day and a great workout.

I hope the two ER Nurses, I met, made it up to the peak.
