Shi Shi Beach and Point of the Arches — Sunday, May. 3, 2026

Olympic Peninsula > Pacific Coast

I did a solo backpack last night at Shi Shi beach!

The trail is in good condition, the upper part in the cliff has 4 small blowdowns, easy to go over or under the trees!

Few extremely muddy sections; but there is a path formed on the side of the main trail through the tree roots. You can always take that unless you wanna test how slippery the mud is 😅

Walking on the beach is easy, nothing major to report there!
I camped close to the Petroleum creek, in the forest. Glad that I found that cozy spot up there, while most of the spots on the beach were taken.

I carried 3 Litres of water for drinking and sawyer filter to get some water for cooking. The petroleum creek is a good source for water, just cross the logjam and walk upstream a bit, you'll find a section where the stream is pretty fast.

The color of the water looked decent, not like How I imagined it would be.

yesterday walked up to the Point of Arches at the sunset time, a good post dinner stroll and omg what a heavenly sunset I witnessed.

The night was not too cold, most foggy! Woke up at 6am, and left the camp at 8. Pretty decent walk back to the TH.

Note- for overnight parking, the parking is 0.6 miles before the actual TH. $20 for overnight. Cash only! The payment box is on the side of the house. I didn't know that, I paid today morning after I came back.

There are a lot of slugs right now in the trail. Last night I saw one banana slug next to my tent sitting on a dead log.

A lot of plastics I saw on the beach and beer cans. So sad to see how people misuse this beautiful area!!

Aside from the payment box, is the parking well-signed?

Its a secured private property. You can even pay there for a day hike - $10/day, $20 for overnight!
