A nice hike back int the falls and lake in perfect weather. The trail has gentle ups and downs until it doesn't where the two wash outs are. The first one is the most challenging-a bit of scrambling needed to follow the pink ribbons others have mentioned. The second washout was easier as there were well spaced rocks to cross on. It's all relative to age and knees. The forest understory along the trail has little tall vegetation but has a rolling carpet of moss-covered boulders. There are several small streams that are easily crossed. Martin Creek, which is the largest and most impressive, is crossed with a footbridge.
Otter Falls is way more impressive in real life than I expected (my first hike here) and even without the falls it would be worth the hike to see the huge smooth rock wall.
