Trip Report

Ingalls Creek — Saturday, Apr. 18, 2026

Central Cascades > Blewett Pass
Big tree at around 3.5 miles.

I hiked Ingalls Creek 11.5 miles in. The trail is mostly snow free until 10 miles.

Very nice spring flowers in the first 3 miles. The trail is lined with beautiful glacier lilies.

At around 3.5 miles there is very large blowdown. It is in flat terrain so not dangerous, but quite high to cross. Otherwise there are mainly minor blowdowns in the first few miles. The trail is mostly in good condition so far.

After ~9 miles the downed trees get really bad. I tried it for a mile or so, but it was extremely slow and quite dangerous. I turned around eventually (see photos on Flickr). Originally I was aiming for Stuart Pass (brought snowshoes and ice axe for that, but did not use). I'd consider it impassable beyond 9 miles unless you have incredible patience,  flexibility and clothing to protect you from all the scratches.

Example of trees after 10 miles (more on Flickr set)
Some nice waterfalls along the way
Nice views along the way (mostly after ~5 miles)
