Route: Today’s walk had various offshoots. The Snoqualmie Valley Trail section was about 4 miles: Tolt River trail junction to the end of the Stillwater Wildlife Area.
Bathroom: only at the Entwistle Street crossing. The Ents have kindly placed two porta-potties at the entrance to Nick Loutsis Park. Both are relatively clean (if a bit muddy), with one roll of toilet paper apiece. After that you’re out of luck for at least as far as I traveled on this trail today.
Fauna: The alternately marshy and agricultural setting made for an interesting mix – I saw everything from roosters to eagles, dogs to frogs, cows to beaver lodges, deer to llamas, plus the usual ducks and geese and songbirds you’d expect in a marsh.
Trail conditions: typical interurban trail – traffic audible and sometimes visible. Wide, flat, and straight, with dirt/gravel so packed that it almost feels paved. Even with puddles, it wasn’t mushy or slippery. Overall in great condition, though there was rather frequent poop on the trail. Installing reminder signs and doggie bag dispensers next to the frequent benches might be helpful for that; I didn’t see any along the way. The path follows the powerlines, which gets a bit in the way of your ability to take pretty landscape pictures, but it’s still a pretty landscape behind the power lines.
I’d love to try the whole 32 miles sometime, maybe as a 2-day trip!
