Hadn't made it out to Indian Henry's yet this season, so decided to see if I could get out there on Sunday before the snow got too much for me. Please note, if considering this trail in the winter be advised that there is high potential for avalanches in some sections.
Got to the TH a little before 8AM to find a Ranger cleaning the vault toilets. Please, if you run into them, thank the Rangers for the work they do. Every time I've spoken with them they've appreciated it, but especially lately they have been moved to get a genuine 'thank you.' Also, there is a trash can about 5 ft away from the vault toilet - for the love of everything, throw your trash our there instead of leaving it in the toilet enclosures for the Rangers to deal with.
There are a couple small trees down across the trail but nothing that isn't easily stepped over. Intermittent snow started about 3.3 miles in, with continuous snow on the trail around 4.5 miles from the TH (distances based on Gaia waypoints I created). I'd guess a little over a foot at Indian Henry's. I didn't put on my spikes though did consider it for a couple sections. On a colder day you'd definitely want some sort of traction. A kind soul ahead of me had broken trail all the way to the cabin.
Trail was very wet in places with melting snow. With colder temps, it's going to become extremely icy so have care.
Only saw four people all day, and views were incredible! Fantastic day!
