There was heavy rain in the days before our walk, and well above the pumping station, the creek was already very smelly. If you’re walking with kids who will want to play in any water they find, this is not the walk for you.
Please see attached photos, somewhat paradoxically documenting that it is unsafe to make contact with the water and that the water is a protected habitat. This goes for the creek and the beach. We did see one salmon struggling its way upstream, through the tunnel under the railroad tracks.
Parking lot: parked at NW 100th & 6th. Small lot was full when we arrived at 9 AM on a sunny Sunday, but we found nearby street parking. No bathroom at that lot, though there were port-a-potties in decent shape once we got closer to the beach.
Trail condition: muddy, but not too many puddles.
Views: the bridge from the lower parking lot over the railroad tracks to the beach was a highlight, as we managed to make it to the top right when a train arrived. There were also many mushroom varieties along the creek.
