The wildflowers didn’t stop! I’m sure they will only be better over the next two weeks, but the rhododendrons especially were amazing and lined the trail for the first 1.5 miles. One thing to note is that after about 2 miles the trail is very exposed and there are some steep drop offs. It’s not too bad, but good to know if you’re afraid of heights or want trekking poles for extra balance.
The exposed trail also lends to amazing views as you approach the pass. I got very lucky and the clouds began lifting a bit and exposed the mountains. The lake was a bit of a steep descent, but a nice lunch spot. If I did the trail again, I’d probably skip the lake and keep hiking along the ridge instead!
