Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - West
View from the trail of the seldom climbed Bear Mountain

Fantastic day on Frog Mountain with Glen99! This is a great hike, as the trail is in super nice condition, and the views are awesome. There is significant deep  snow up high on the flanks of Frog Mountain, but there is the beginnings of a nice bootpath all the way to the summit from yesterdays hikers. We had got a timely report from one of our hiking friends that they had broke trail yesterday, and didn't use snowshoes, so we left the snowshoes in the car. This worked well, as I only had a couple of postholes. We brought micro spikes, but didn't use them. This could change with the freeze thaw overnight. It's good to carry them, as you neve know. We both wore gaiters , which helped the boots stay dry.

Again, great hike, which worked so very well for us on our return trip back from the Lake Wenatchee area! We took the Beckler River Road to the trailhead, and the Index-Galena road back towards the metropolis!
