Trailhead: The road to the north trailhead is gravel and has some potholes, but is in good shape for any vehicle. There is no bathroom at the trailhead. No parking pass is needed.
Trail: The trail is in great shape. After reading recent detailed trip reports, I had a great idea of what to expect. Due to time constraints, I skipped Tatoosh Lakes and Peak 6050.
The first couple miles climb steeply through the trees. After that, you break out into the open while still climbing. The trail is a little bit of a roller coaster of gentle ups and downs. After the turnoff for Tatoosh Lakes and then the 4 way intersection for Peak 6050 (continue straight for Tatoosh Peak), you'll have sweeping views of the surrounding valleys and mountains. Mount St Helens, Mount Adams, Mount Hood and Mount Rainier all come in to view and they are stunning. There are some fall colors right now and still a few ripe blueberries.
The turnoff for Tatoosh Peak is hard to spot as previously mentioned by other trip reports. It is a sharp left just after you enter some trees about 4.5 miles up the trail. If you pass the turn and end up cresting a ridge with a view of Goat Rocks and Mount Adams, turn around and look for the sign in the tree and bootpath heading uphill. From here, it's just a little more uphill to the peak and the stunning 360 view.
