Valley Trail is open to motorcycles, hikers, horses and bikes, and the southeast section of the trail is also open to ATVs. Know user etiquette and right-of-way before you head out to hike this route.
Begin at Forest Road 28 near the Cispus River bridge. The trail passes Camp Creek Falls shortly after the start of the trail. Camp Creek is just 0.52 miles from the start of the trail. 2.40 miles from the first trailhead, arrive at the North Fork Campground.
Continuing past the North Fork Campground it's 2.16 miles to the junction with the Bishop Ridge Trail. You'll cross Horse Creek along the way, This entire section parallels the Cispus River and Road 28 through stands of mixed conifers and hardwoods.
From the North Fork Campground, it's 3.34 miles to the junction with the Blue Lake Ridge trail, where hikers can head just a couple miles uphill to large, peaceful Blue Lake.
Past the Blue Lake Trailhead, the road is open to ATVs as well as horseback riders, mountain bikers, motorcycles and hikers.
The rest of Trail 270 to Road 78 is open to ATVs as well as hikers, horses, mountain bikes and motorcycles. From the Blue Lake trailhead, it's 7.8 miles to Cat Creek Campground, where the trail ends. Users can link up with the Hamilton Buttes trail, or Bishop Ridge to make a large loop.
