We got to the lot around 3:30pm and managed to get a decent spot. The lot was full but people were coming and going.
There were quite a few people and dogs, and most were great, but there was one time I had to step in between an off leash dog and the leashed puppy in our party, which was uncool.
My watch said we were out there for 2 hours and went 3.35 miles.

My sister-in-law & I hiked with 5 kids and an infant. I ended up piggy backing my 3 year old parts of the way. We hiked up to the 3rd viewing area I believe. The less conditioned kiddos had a harder time. Bring snacks and water and some form of child carrier depending on the age of your kiddo. I had candy for motivation that kept them going. I saw one dad carrying one kid on his back and another in his arms. I saw another mom carrying her large toddler on her hip at the earlier part of the hike when we were on the way down and I felt bad for her. And a few kids melting down along the way. The 400-500 ft of elevation gain is no joke for little ones. It was still a fun hike overall. There were lots of little trails down to the creek/river at the beginning of the hike that my kids wanted to explore, but it’s actually best to opt for those at the end of the hike so that you don’t expend extra energy before you get to the top.— also so you don’t get all wet before you hike for the day. The trail itself is pretty dusty on some parts and can be slippery so it’s best to have shoes with a little more grip. There were lots of big boulders, little streams, & slugs for the kids to explore.

Once again a sudden family service call thwarted my hiking plans for the weekend. I only had time for a quick one near North Bend, and once I got there I could see the clouds were hanging low and covered The Ledge and Little Si. What to do, what to do??? Well, I hadn't been to Twin Falls in nearly 20 years, so I decided what the heck. I arrived right at 9am, and at that time the line of cars was already starting to stretch up the road.
The trail was very dusty, to no surprise, and it is significantly eroded from what I remembered before. I used to do this one all the time as a teen and young adult, yet in many places it was unrecognizable to me. I guess that's to be expected of a trail that's hugely popular and probably sees a couple thousand pairs of boots, shoes, flip-flops, bare feet and paws every weekend. Also as expected there was a large boulder covered in graffiti, huge cuts in the switchbacks larger than the main trail, and one spot where the trail devolved into a complete free-for-all through the forest. I think WA DNR has mostly thrown up its hands here. On the positive side though I didn't see any trash or poop bags, so at least they are cleaning it up frequently.
I reached the first falls within 40 minutes, and was at the "third twin" falls 15 minutes later. I will say that despite it being a zoo of people nearly everyone was friendly and observed trail etiquette. I was also surprised to see that most people were packing more gear on this short semi-urban trail than a lot of people I see way up in the North Cascades. It was of course difficult to take pictures without getting in the queue for the right spot, but since I wasn't naive enough to have expected solitude on this trail I patiently waited each time.
On the way back the crowd steadily increased, and by the time I drove off the line of cars stretched halfway to North Bend. Despite all that I have to say it's good that we have so many options in trails out there, not just the epic 8-10 mile ones but lots of "quick n' dirty" trails where when we're short on time we can still stretch our legs.
This trail was very fun to hike especially with the river right next to us and so many little side trails to explore as well. Our two kids (6.5 and 4) enjoyed exploring the off trails and the beautiful views of all of the falls from the far view point, lower view point, bridge over the falls, and the upper view point. For the most part everyone had decent trail etiquette, but there were a few people that did not understand to step to the side when they are coming down a hill and others are coming up, especially with kids, and there was also one large group from Microsoft that did not understand trail etiquette at all and would just push their way through wherever they were on the trail.
Regardless of the poor trail etiquette from some people, our kids enjoyed this hike a lot and you do not even notice the elevation gain. This is a great hike for people of all abilities and we look forward to exploring farther next time.

Twin falls trail was beautiful!! It was quite busy, due to the excellent weather (as well as being a weekend day). We had a lot of fun hiking by up to the views of the falls!! It was also quite fun to hangout by the water and maneuver amongst the rocks. All in all, twin falls was a great experience on this summer day!! 😎
