Back in 1990, this 178-acre piece of land — bordered by Craig Road, Skate Creek Road, Skate Creek and the Cowlitz River — was transferred from the Washington Department of Natural Resources to Washington State Parks and was originally slated to become a state park. Today, it houses almost 4 miles of forested family-friendly trails for hikers to explore.

Getting There
Skate Creek Park is just outside of Packwood. Head north on Highway 12 from the center of Packwood and turn left onto Skate Creek Road S. Cross the Cowlitz River, and the road will turn into FR 52. Take the next left onto Craig Rd. In 0.3 mile, the small parking area will be on your left.
The lot has no amenities and can hold about 4 or 5 cars.
