Plenty of parking today. Vault toilet is stocked and stinky. Might be better to stop at the state park if you need restrooms.
Not many people on the trail today. I did the opposite of my usual loop and started with Porpoise Point. That’s one steep trail! Despite last nights rain, the trail was dusty and dry. Not sure why I hiked in sandals today. I’d recommend shoes with better support and traction for the rocky parts. Cloudy with calm water. Very peaceful.

This is an undiscovered park, so close to Rosario Beach but hardly anyone is there. We hiked multiple trails to go round the perimeter of the park and the trails do go up and down quite a bit without switchbacks and they are narrow and in places require a hand. It’s a good place to have poles particularly if the trails do go is wet. Today, we started in a chilly fog, but as the marine air burned off, the views were great and we started shedding layers. There are some great viewpoints and a couple of benches, Great hike.

I took the last spot in there lot. Vault toilet clean and stocked. Even though the lot was full, the trail wasn’t crowded and I went long periods without seeing anyone. The woods are full of spring green, birdsong and some flowers too. As I sat on the bluff I heard the swoop of a turkey vulture overhead. 4 more followed and they proceeded to put on an aerial show for me.
I’m a creature of habit and usually do these trails in a clockwise loop. Today I went the opposite direction and enjoyed a whole new experience. Beautiful either way!

We hiked both ends of the Sharpe Park today and had a great time. First time visiting here, and we were surprised by so many big and old evergreen trees in the forest section. Only met a few people entire day so it felt very tranquil.

Trails are short but Broom-Tomb Loop and Porpoise Point trails were actually a bit steep, many parts are on steep rock surfaces, so I think poles are helpful if you want to take these paths. Otherwise it was in good condition, a few muddy spots but not bad at all today.

Many birds were chirping and flying around at the Sares Head Overlook. A bald eagle flew by and stopped on a nearby Douglas Fir for a while. We also saw red head woodpeckers both by the sea and in the woods.

Did not see porpoises at the Porpoise Point (it was a beautiful cliff), but I think we saw many later at the Green Point in Washington Park. Definitely dolphins but not quite sure what kind though.

Little colorful flowers were blooming everywhere, and lots of succulents on rocks facing the sea.

Clean and stocked toilet at the TH.
Trail is in good shape. We enjoyed lunch above the clouds and got a good workout hiking up and down on a few of the loops. Lots of little birds singing in the woods and woodpeckers pecking.
