I arrived early to beat the heat and hit the road for my long drive home after a great weekend outdoors. This trail didn’t disappoint. A steady (steep at times) climb to the summit. I chose the North Loop to the summit which was steeper going up and the South Loop to head back down. Wildflowers presented immediately and got better with each step gained! The views speak for themselves. The bathroom at the TH is clean but not stocked — like most, bring your own TP!

I spent the last three days hiking the triple crown of Methow Valley spring wildflower viewing. Saved the best for last. Patterson Mountain is a fantastic short hike for spring and fall but its slopes are a bit baked in the summer. The Arrowleaf are just past peak but still stunning. I'd recommend hiking this trail within a week if you want to see them. The Service Berries are full of white blooms and the lupine are looking good and based on past experience will continue to be in full bloom for a few weeks. Also saw some rock roses, which always amaze me with their tenacity.
The parking lot was closed today for construction but it's easy to park on the street. The trail is in good condition. Only one really muddy spot that we needed to walk around. I highly recommend taking a left when you reach the loop intersection and hiking up the north side. While mostly exposed it has a lot more shady sections than the south side of the loop making it nice on the ascent.
There were several other parties on the trail, including a group of middle school students, teachers and parents who were celebrating the end of tests with some outdoor time. 8) That said the trail was not at all crowded.
In addition to the wildflowers we saw some grazing deer.
Oh I almost forgot to mention the mountain views. Spectacular views of Gardner and Silver Star

A lovely spring hike with great views and plenty of wildflowers! Trail starts across the road from the Patterson Lake boat launch and can be done as a loop making for 3.6 miles and just over 1000' vert.
There is a very impressing mosaic art display at the summit with views of the snow capped Chelan-Sawtooth peaks. The balsamroot and lupine have not fully bloomed as of today, maybe 2 weeks out from peak bloom on these western facing slopes. Plenty of spring beauties, blue bells and shooting stars out now though! Little to no shade on this trail so i can imagine it being pretty brutal in the summer heat.
