WTA's hiking guide is the most comprehensive database of hikes in Washington, and comprises content written by local hiking experts and user submitted information. All data is vetted by WTA staff. This resource is made possible by the donations of WTA members.

Lake Julius and Loch Eileen

Little Wenatchee River Road Snowshoe

Starting from the west end of Lake Wenatchee, this snowshoe along a snowy forest service road is a great way to get out in the snow on a relatively flat and wide trail. Side roads offer an uphill route to a viewpoint or you can meander down toward the river and turn back at any point you please.
Lichtenwasser Lake Snowshoe
Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - East
This snowshoe route follows Smithbrook Road north from Highway 2, then leaves the road to climb across open terrain to Licthenwasser Lake. This route requires routefinding skills and the ability to read and navigate through avalanche terrain.
Lennox Creek (Dog Mountain)

This abandoned trail climbs from the Lennox Creek Valley under thick canopy to a prominent peak in between the North Fork and Middle Fork Snoqualmie Rivers.

Follow the popular Icicle Ridge trail into the Alpine Lakes Wilderness to Lake Margaret. A typical alpine lake, Margaret features campsites, trees, boulder fields, and granite cliffs. There are also fish in the lake available for fishing. At the junction with Icicle Ridge and Frosty Wildhorse, this lake is a great destination for an overnight trip with opportunities to connect to other lakes and trails.
Lake Kulla Kulla
Snoqualmie Region > Snoqualmie Pass
One of the hundreds of lakes in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness, Lake Kulla Kulla is visible from the top of Mount Defiance but not accessible via formal trails.

Lake Donald

The highest and loveliest of the Scottish Lakes, Lake Donald is reached via a way trail 1/2 mile and 500' above Loch Eileen.
Lake Augusta

The way to Lake Augusta is rough. It's a steep and brushy trail that doesn't see much maintenance. But the destination is worth it; the lake is gorgeous, set in a basin at the bottom of Big Jim Mountain. It's a wonderful spot for wildflowers and backpacking trips late into the season.
Keystone Ridge

Hike up a steep, dry ridgeline in the Entiat with 360 degree views of the Columbia River, the wine country of eastern Washington, and wildflowers galore.
Judi's Peak

Jolly Mountain via Sasse Ridge Trail

Use this route to access the summit of this Teanaway peak, and you'll be pleased to find it's half as short as the standard 13-mile roundtrip approach. The trailside environment is stark, since this area burned recently, and while life is rebounding here, it’s still more austere than jolly. Note that this summit is also accessible via the West Fork Teanaway Trail, Yellow Hill, and Jolly Creek or Paris Creek, though all those are multi-mile treks, deserving of overnighting, or at least a very early start.
Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) - Hyak to Windy Pass
Snoqualmie Region > Snoqualmie Pass
This short section of the PCT heads south out of Snoqualmie Pass and to Windy Pass, where it is possible to access Mount Catherine, or do a longer loop before heading back towards the trailhead at Snoqualmie Pass.
Humility Hill

Howson Peak

Following an abandoned trail, Howson Creek provides an enjoyable hike in light forest. The trail is steep and the tread is narrow, but it offers progressively better views above 4000 feet, north toward Thorp Mountain and the Snoqualmie Peaks, especially from West Sasse Peak.

The Granite Mountain trail is one of Washington's most popular in summer. But in winter, the route crosses an avalanche chute and is extremely dangerous when snow is present.

This steep trail goes from Forest Road 4517-117 to the Cle Elum Ridge Trail. Hike up switchbacks beneath a forest of ponderosa pine and fir trees to reach some spectacular views of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. Be sure to bring waterproof shoes, as the creek comes over the trail in places.
Freund Canyon

Used primarily by mountain bikers, this trail is very popular due to its proximity to the town of Leavenworth. It is also frequently used as a logging road, and is subject to occasional closures because of this.
French Cabin Mountain

Freedom Peak

Also known as Little Navaho, this scramble is best attempted in winter, as the rock in summer makes for class 2 or 3 climbing. In any season, climbing experience and equipment recommended.

Take a rugged trek through creek canyons, down a four-wheeling road, over a remote pass, and back down through a multi-use trail to complete a challenging loop hike. You may have equestrians, mountain bikers, and ORV users for company, but any type of user can appreciate the views you’ll get along the way.
