Swauk Forest Discovery Trail — Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007

Central Cascades > Blewett Pass
Not enough snow to snowshoe, but my grandchildren declared our hike on this easy trail ""like walking in a Christmas card."" The snow was only a few inches deep and powdery. It was cold, only 22º when we were there. It was an easy trail for these beginning hikers, and they thought the forest was beautiful. We saw lots of animal tracks: deer, rabbits, and elk, but no wildlife. Access this trail from Highway 97 on FS 9716 a Swauk Pass. From the snow park it is about 1/4 mile walk up a snowy road to the trailhead.
