An interesting two-part hike: the first mostly flat, through woods and meadows in the Box Canyon valley, the second part featuring a lot more gain! On a lovely summer Sunday, one of the two parking lots was full at 10:30 and the second filling up quickly. Bugs not bad at all compared to other hikes I've done recently. Hiking poles handy for the switchbacks.
