My son and I spent the night at Slide lake. Weather was warm and bugs were refreshly absent. We could hear the thunderstorm in the Skagit valley. Seattle was getting lots of rain and we were dry. This was a rare oddity.
The lake is down drastically from high water mark. Fishing was good - remember to catch and release so all can enjoy.
There was one party at the lake firing a gun. This is a touch disconcerning when you are standing on the shore of the lake.
I am trying to instill outdoor ethics in my son by hauling out trash left by others. This could be a full time job at this lake. We filled up half a pack and did not make a dent. What depresses me in particular are the birdsnests of monifilament line along side the lake. These are simply animals traps waiting to kill.
Hike clean.
