Trip Report

Polallie Ridge — Saturday, May. 19, 2001

Snoqualmie Region > Salmon La Sac/Teanaway
After doing Red mountain and finishing at 2:30pm Pilar described an itch to climb to a high point on Pollalie ridge. Problem is that you have to follow the tiresome creek trail up, cross tiresome creek then ascend an old growth forest ridge. Well we missed the Tiresome creek turnoff, went too far toward Pete's Lake and then turned right up to a logging road and started to ascend a rib. This was somewhat tiresome and bushwhacking was bad from 3000-3700ft. We eventually got to the top of the ridge at 5450 but realized we were on the wrong ridge. We were on the ridge that has a trail to the top. This really pissed off the mighty pilar and he even threatened to ascend the valley and head up to the highpoint of the ridge (50 feet higher). I cried are you crazy. Its 6pm, I am out of water, I am tired and we still have to descend a bushwhack. Of course the footsteps at the top led us right to the trail and we made the descent in less than an hour. Man did I expend alot of energy for nothing. The trail was a blessing. There was snow in the shady spots, but the forest was clean and the trail was in good shape overall. I felt bad about missing the tiresome creek turnoff so I bought a Pizza for Pilar and myself in rosylyn and headed home at 10pm. A long day (9 miles Pollalie-2900 ft, 7 miles Red mountain 3400 ft). Pilar of course could have gone on but I said you'd be hitchhiking home so we headed off. The whole day was great weather and I might add the view from Pollalie ridge of Chimney rock was trully incredible.
