South Cascades > Dark Divide

The route from forest road 29, the trailhead assended steeply, yet snow free on the high bridge trail, to the tounge mountain trail, a two mile journey. Heading south for .7 miles, i discovered a peak trail, #294.1. The view from the top is spectacular of the Cispus Valley and surrounding mountains. The trip was entirely snow free, and was a plesant supprise for this hiker who had previously been unable to ""summit"" any of the south cascades. It was also a pleasent supprise to run into my good friend Aaron Fuller who wrote a wonderful report on the Pomey Peak trail that he dareingly assended earlier this summer.
