After reading that someone had checked out Barclay Lake because it had just opened, we just had to check it out. No cars in the lot, had the entire place to ourselves mid-week. The aftermath of the Bolt Creek fire was evident seeing the burned tree bases and occasional blackened tree and stumps along the trail. The road into the TH was obviously affected by the fire as lots of trees had been cleared that came down toward the road. Luckily, the majority of the trail was unaffected and remains unscathed. Overgrown areas no longer had foliage but branches from devil's club(?) were overgrowing the trail in sections. There were a couple blowdowns to maneuver but easy to do so. There was a dusting a snow on Mt. Baring and the other peaks in the area so looked beautiful. The bridge looks to be rotting through the center so it's going to need reinforcing before too long. Saw deer prints along the trail. Lots of fungi. Near the end of the lake there appeared to be a washout of the stream so we couldn't go any farther without walking through ankle-deep water. It was great to once again enjoy the easy, gentle trail of Barclay Lake. So glad it's back!
