This was a pretty fun little hike with big views as the payoff. Tried to get up for dawn patrol, but was too tired, so I started at 7:30am. Stats were (via Strava) 9.38mi / 3716ft / 4h 34min
I feel like this is one that everyone should definitely try at some point, though it was definitely a little busier than what I typically hike! Pretty straight forward trail for the region; a little bit root-y, a little bit rocky, and a good dose of super nice cruise-y stretches. Snow/ice starts around 4100 ft and the trail turns to winter. Good snowshoe path has been blazed, so no worries about footwear choices. I had spikes, but did not use them, though folks who do not have the comfort level/experience with snow travel might want to err on the side of caution. Have poles handy, at the very least. There are several good viewpoints, so the primary summit does not seem so crowded. Fantastic views all around! Still a few good running water sources, if needed for filtering. The upper 1/3 of the trail is under snow, so it’s tough to tell, but likely mostly roots/rocks/stairs. Not sure this report will be relevant with the precip due later this week!
To the nice gentleman who helped me try and diagnose a car issue: it was a rock in the brake housing! It flew out when I hit 65mph, so all good : )
