This trail is not on any road signs on the Suiattle River Trail. I have long had it on my radar as it was a lookout site and posts about it look incredible so since I was in the area, I thought I would check it out. I passed it twice as no signs on road to say trail is there, but I then kept GPS out. There is what looks to be a large turnout opposite the trail. Third pass I saw the trail sign. It is in the burn area. Trail is overgrown, but it looks like someone started clearing the lower part of blowdown and brush. There were a couple sections of long creek like areas on the trail that you have to try to get around. It was brushy, but the worst was the sooty blowdown starting at around 2000 in elevation. I had to crawl under a couple and backpack got really sooty. I persevered as I wanted to get to the Fred Bulgier camp to check it out. At 2100 I finally gave up as I encountered a wall of blowdown - no idea where trail was under all that other than having my Gaia tell me where it was. I was solo so it just seemed like a bad idea to keep going. This would not have been fun if I had been planning a backpack.
I just went back to the peek a boo view of Glacier Peak and enjoyed a snack there. There were bleeding heart on the trail! Crazy as that is a spring flower. It was 37 degrees at that time.
