Hiked up to just below the summit of Mount Stilly. Turned around where you have to cross the short but exposed eroded section with a death drop covered in loose rocks and dirt/small pebbles. We had a babysitter to get back to and haven’t been out doing challenging trips as often as we used to. Maybe we’ll try again another day.
Fall colors were stunning on Perry Creek and Mt. Stillaguamish meadows. The jaw dropping colors along Perry creek lit up in the blue bird day sunshine from 11am-4pm making them even more beautiful. The red blueberry bushes were dazzling up in the meadows.
My husband was stung once by the small waterfall up above Perry Creek falls mentioned in the last trip report. We mistaken thought the wasps were at Perry creek falls (there were no wasps there and we hung out for a while) so he thought he was in the clear and made the mistake of stopping to wait by the falls. I bolted as fast as I could past the falls and was not stung. We both ran past super fast on the way back and remained unscathed.
We left the trail around 4750 and after 100ft or so up we quickly met up with the bootpath that goes all the way to the summit. There are 3 short class 2/3 scrambly sections but otherwise wide open meadows. If you’re brave enough to cross the exposed section I’ve read afterwards it is class 2 to a big broad summit. We had a nice consolation prize on a flat rocky ledge next to the bright red foiliage overlooking the lake below the summit. Started 8:30am back to car 4pm.
