This is mostly a forest hike that opens in several short sections to views of red and gold slopes in the distance. Golden vine maples and bracken appear the closer you get to the lake. And it's a lovely little lake--sparkling, clear water, with partial paths to the right and left. We went to the left and sat on a log by the lake to eat lunch, along with some chipmunk friends. No bugs and minimal mud on the trail.
All the work that WTA crews did looks great. It's clear they put in a ton of effort.
On an unseasonably warm and sunny Saturday, the parking lot had just a couple spots left around 8:30am. When we got back to our car around 1pm, the lot was full, with dozens of cars parked along the road (some with tickets, I guess from not having a pass?)
