Backpacked this trail and camped near Goat Lakes. Goat lakes is the two tarns people refer to, the split from main trail starts at about 4 miles from trailhead on this trail. From the split, its another ~2 miles to get to the lakes.
It was a bit smoky during this trip due to the wildfire season, but still pretty good views, cant beat the open 360 degrees views on this trail. On sunny days this trail feels pretty long, due to exposure to sun. Trail is mostly rocky terrain and mild rock scrambling involved. The trail to the lakes from main trail, initial 500 ft is a steep drop and then its gradual hike on the ridge line. Follow the ridge line to reach the lakes.
