The trail was in good condition. However, when we opened the car doors we were greeted with a barrage of gunfire from a nearby range. That continued throughout our entire visit, though it was quieter on the south Loop. If you have PTSD related to gun fire, don't go here.
A few harebells in bloom, but most of the vegetation was parched, which made it easier to see the underlying form of the mounds.
The interpretive overlook has been tagged and there were broken bottles at the base of the stairwell. Would like to visit in spring...but may not choose to return.

Wanderin'Weezie on Mima Mounds
Have to agree. On my visit the site was well maintained, and the terrain weirdly interesting. Lol, giant gophers... But the near-constant gunfire was unsettling.
