Absolutely gorgeous afternoon & evening on the trail!
The end of the road is quite rough, high clearance is suggested. The pit toilet is pretty foul.
The hike is steep and strenuous as you ascend most of 1000’ during the apx 1 mi of switchbacks, in full sun with no shade. Then it’s basically a ridge line trail. If you don’t have good balance, I suggest bringing poles - the corners of the switchbacks can be a bit iffy.
So many butterflies and flowers! Columbine, Paintbrush, Stonecrop, Fireweed, a variety of purple Asters, just to name a few. Lovely views of the skagit valley and Sauk & Stillaguamish Rivers. And you can see the Puget Sound and Mt Baker from the top.
