Hiked to tuck and robin lakes and climbed granite peak yesterday. I have been to Jade and dip top and done Daniel but never tuck and robin. This area is so gorgeous. It was pretty deserted on Friday morning but on our way down, we encountered countless backpackers heading up. Definitely go on a weekday if you can! Tuck lake was really beautiful, the route finding up to Robin isn’t too difficult if you follow the Cairns. Honestly all the reports that I have read about this make it seem way more difficult than it actually is. There are two ways up to Granite Peak from Robin Lakes, we went around the lake which was longer but fairly easy, definitely worth adding on to your day hike or your backpack! Really nice views of the lakes, Mount Daniel, and when you get up to the ridge you can see the granite potholes on the other side which are just beautiful and so blue! The camera really doesn’t even capture how blue they are. You can even see pea soup like from the summit of Granite Peak! The bugs were definitely partying hard on my body and I have too many bites to count despite bug spray! Two hikes in a row now I have struck out on seeing mountain goats in heavily populated areas (last hike zero at ingalls) - hopefully I’ll get redemption next weekend!
I tracked our hike on two different gps apps and got two different mileages and elevation gain, I think it’s somewhere around 15 miles round-trip with taking the long way up to Granite Peak and somewhere around 4500 feet of elevation gain, give or take.
