Beautiful hike, but you and your vehicle must be prepared for this hike.
1. Mowich Lake Road is absolutely awful. It’s 12 miles of loose gravel with large, sharp rocks and potholes. You need to go slow, and probably slightly deflate your tires before going on the road (please read general tire recommendations online about what tire pressure to use on rough, loose rock roads). We popped a tire on Mowich Road on our way home (some awesome folks from Puyallup stopped and helped us - thanks so much, Chandler and Chloe!).
2. There are swarms of mosquitoes starting at Eunice Lake, all the way to the Lookout. I’ve never been on a hike with so many mosquitoes. Bug spray is a must.
If you’re prepared, you will love this hike! Beautiful views of Eunice Lake and Rainier, and it’s mostly shaded from the sun (the last mile of the hike is a bit more exposed, but there are still places to find shade).
