Decided to take my daughter, son-in-law and their dog up to Margaret Lake today, even though I knew it would be busier since it's the holiday. We arrived at 8:30 and the parking lot was full with people starting to park along the road. We did get parking and even though the trail was busier than normal it didn't feel crowded. Everyone we passed were cheerful and friendly with their dogs well behaved too. This is a pretty good up hill trek with views of Rainier along the way, that were so beautiful even if it was a bit hazy due to the heat. Getting closer to Margaret lake, it is down hill into the basin to reach the lake shore, so a real good work out. At the lake shore today the mosquitos were ready and waiting for lunch, so even with bug spray they were bad. All dogs coming through did have to take a dip in the lake, ours included. There were loads of wildflowers along this trail also. A very beautiful trail.
