Olympic Peninsula > Pacific Coast

Overnight family backpacking trip with our 3 yo.

Salmonberries were ripe near the trailhead, and everything was lush and green all the way to the beach. A few holes in the boardwalk here and there but a very well maintained trail.

Had a mix of coastal mist and sunshine. Found a great camping spot and poked around the tide pools at low tide. Plenty of (brownish) water in the creek for filtering at the start of the string of camps.

Definitely a popular spot, but never felt crowded.

My first time here and we wished we had gotten a permit to spend 2 nights (also would have been a great strategy for the kiddo).

All in all a great trip and a good rec from another parent trip reporter. Three miles was a challenging distance for my kiddo but he did it with plenty of snacks and games along the way.

The only essential hand holding spot over the creek to camp
