I did a trail run from the campground via the Boy Scout Trail to the Umatilla Rock loop. My experience matched the previous trip reports, with a few callouts:
- The Boy Scout Trail is pretty brushy in places and has a number of social trails branching off, especially closer to the campground, which led me astray at least once or twice.
- There is running water at the bathroom facility at Camp Delaney.
- Not all the side trails on Gaia GPS exist in the real world.
- I almost stepped on a rattlesnake, which was uncomfortably exciting for both of us :)
All that said, it's a beautiful area for a hike.
