Great day to hike Granite Mountain. Just posting a quick update on the conditions of the summer Trail, it is definitely doable now if you don’t want to do the Boulder field. There’s fairly consistent snow cover, the switch backs up to the top are partially bare, be mindful of snow bridges over the creek in the basin. There is a good boot pack that is easy to follow through the snow. There was evidence of a little bit of postholing but there really isn’t anything too deep. Just have more caution with the snow bridges. We took the Boulder filled up and the summer trail down to save our knees. We used our micro spikes on the way down because we didn’t want to be slipping and sliding through the snow, but the grip was decent without them. Otherwise, the trail is in great shape, beargrass blooming a little bit lower down, as usual this is one of my favorite hikes and it was a fantastic day up there!
