Busy. That's the best way to describe this hike - the wide, well-kept trail was extremely busy with people and kids and dogs, even on a Monday midmorning.
This hike offers moderate but continuous elevation gain for the entire 2mi to the ledge viewpoint. Excellent tree coverage means fewer views until you reach the ledge. Be mindful of abrupt chasms and steep cliff edges at the top, especially if you're hiking with pets or kids.
Salmonberries are strewn all along the path, currently ripe, and it looks like mountain huckleberries will be ready in another 3 weeks or so. Foxglove and wild roses and geranium festoon the trail, busy with bumblebees and the occasional butterfly, and offering many opportunities to practice with your camera's macro settings.
