On a holiday weekend, we got one of the last easy parking spots, having driven in from Port Angeles to hit the trail around 11am. The plan was to get to the beach section around 1 or so, since low tide was 2pm. This worked out fine.
Several brand-new bridges have been built over creeks on the way out. Lots of planks replaced as well. Both legs of the woods section were in great shape. A bit boring TBH since they are pretty straight. But the beach payoff is worth it.
After taking a bit of a detour north to Cape Alava, we set off south down the beach. Very slow going with rocks and soft pebbly beach sections. Millions of little crabs skittering around. Lots of downed trees to go over and under in the first mile or so.
We had a hard time finding the petroglyphs but lots of other people were in the area and helped us out.
Definitely go past the big "trail target" sign to Sand Point and climb the exposed knoll for a cool view of both sides of Sand Point. We had a late lunch here and it was fantastic.
