Granite Mountain — Friday, May. 26, 2023

Snoqualmie Region > Snoqualmie Pass
View of lookout with talus rock that needs to be crossed. The first section is the hardest with large rocks and crevasses

Went up with a friend. Surprisingly the parking lot had only 4 or 5 cars at 8 am. Hardly any traffic on the trail. Came across maybe 10 people. Trail is easy to follow and snow starts high up on the ridge before hitting the talus rock. We had to navigate the talus rock fields at the top which slowed us down. Had boots and poles. Did not need traction or ice axe. Snow was slushy with the warm temperatures. We had the lookout to ourselves for almost an hour and enjoyed the great views. On the way back, we dropped down from the ridge and made our way on the snow slope which was faster than traveling on the talus.

View from the top looking down on I90
Avalanche chutes are completely free of snow
