Snoqualmie Region > North Bend Area
View of Rainier

Hiked from the Ira Spring Trailhead to Putrid Pete's Peak in about 2 hrs 45 min on a beautiful day. This is a steep climber's trail, which is most difficult from 3800 to 4500 ft. where it is very steep with some scrambling. Once at 4500 ft. the ridge is easy.

The entire way is mostly snow free but a few larger, long patches remain from 4600 ft. to 4800 ft. I used my ice axe for a short 50 ft. stretch at 4600 ft. but realized it was easily avoidable on the way down. I was surprised with the lack of snow—no cornices or spring avalanche chutes.

Beautiful view from an attractive summit which felt much nicer than Bandera, but more strenuous. I saw one other solo hiker.

Looking up at the PPP summit from around 4650ft.
View to northeast and Spider Lake and Pratt River valley
