Today we hiked to Franklin Falls for the first time. The road portion for the hike was completely clear until a bit before the Denny Creek campground. Then it is pretty compacted snow. We used snowshoes, but most people we passed seemed to be doing just fine with microspikes. Trail is mostly in decent condition, although there were a few bridge crossings with only a skinny walk space due to the snow. The end of the trail is a bit sketchy to get down closer to the falls. It’s very slippery and has limited room to maneuver.
It’s a very beautiful hike and has a few options for routes. We hiked the official trail in, and then took the wagon trail to Denny Creek Road and walked that back to our parking area. The road was much easier to snowshoe than the trail.
