Trip Report

West Elwha — Sunday, Oct. 16, 2022

Olympic Peninsula > Northern Coast

The trail is beautiful, especially after you cross into the park. The beginning of the trail is about .5 mi following an easement that connects to the parking area. From there, you wander through lush ferns and mossy cedars, eventually making your way down into the river basin. The Elwha is very low right now, but beautiful and always worth a visit.

I only had a short time today, so I turned back at the wooden bridges up the bank. The trail is easy, but is a long slope up on the way back. Most of the trail is well kept up. I didn't come to the downed bridge, but it may be after the first mile and a half of the trail.
