Because of the dry weather this season, the trail has a thick, soft layer of dust on the section that crosses the ski slope. Some sections of the trail had been reinforced with rocks that had a tendency to slide around in the dust as well. If you are someone who is prone to stubbing toes or twisting ankles, you should consider carrying your hiking poles to navigate the trail sections that are thick with sharp-edged, half buried stones and clusters of tree roots across the path. Completely doable but watch your step.
We like this trail and always continue beyond the lake to enjoy the quiet of the forest before turning back.
