This is a10 mile hike round trip with 7 miles on the forest road. The elevation gain is very gradual on the forest road so it made for a nice easy hike in with in the forest. After getting to the trail head most of the elevation gain is felt for the last 1.5 miles to the lake.
Beautiful lake like all lakes in the Alpine Wilderness. I had the lake all to myself at 10am on Saturday and only saw people on the hike back to the car.
Would be a good snow shoe hike I think in the Winter time. I didn’t see any evidence of any avalanche chutes but also wasn’t looking for them.
