This was a 4 day/3 night excursion along the PCT starting and ending at North Fork Sauk trailhead. Don't expect a lot of solitude on a trip like this - North Forth Sauk was busy with Glacier Peak climbers and PCT was busy with through/section hikers. If you want to measure your fitness levels, you can hike the PCT this time of the year and see the PCTers zip right past you. Most of them are putting up crazy numbers like 25-30 miles/day and the few that I did talk to had some interesting stories to share as well.
I made it as far as Fire Creek Pass on day 2 where I camped and did a short side trip to peak 6914 to take a look at the Milk Lake/Glacier. There is no running water at the pass but plenty of lingering snow that can be melted.
The crux of this trip and really for section K of PCT is the Kennedy Creek crossing. There is a narrow log with a heavy current underneath that can be either walked on or scooted on. In the afternoon, water starts going over the log so there is no way to cross without getting your feet/shoes wet. I saw a few folks just fording the creek as well.
On the last day there was noticeable change in the air quality and visibility due to the fires burning in the nearby valleys.
If I were to go back, I would wait for Suiattle road to be reopened and the bridge across the river to be restored - that would make this a nice side trip while doing the Milk Creek Loop - but that could be a very long wait.
