Like others have mentioned the road is closed about 3 miles in the forest road. The river has washed out a large portion of road and supporting earth. A small trail has been created to bypass the closure but is still closed to motorized vehicles. I wanted to check this trail out so I started off on my bike. Riding up with backpacking gear was very difficult and I ended up stashing my bike off the road and continued on foot. Total is about 9 miles from the washout to the trail head. There were several places long the road to filter water. There is no water on the trail or up on the ridge, duh, but there is water in the bottom of the drainages. It was gorgeous and pretty much had the whole trail to myself. Views were incredible but the bugs were terrible. Bug spray and a thermacell still didn't deter them. Road may be closed but still a great time and the trail was in amazing condition.
